Seth Rogen pulls double-duty in this surprisingly charming tale of a Jewish-immigrant, who falls into a vat of pickles and wakes up 100-years later in modern day-Brooklyn. 

Without giving to much away! Rogen plays both Herschel Greenbaum, the perfectly preserved immigrant who awakens in modern times, and he also portrays Ben, the great grandson of Herschel. Things get rocky for the two and eventually they become enemies. Each sabotaging the others chances of finding success in their chosen profession. 

Things take a turn plot-wise and matters go from bad to worse. Both for the characters and for the film itself. The only saving grace for this picture is Seth Rogen's charming as hell portrayal of Herschel and Ben. 

I enjoyed it! Don't think I'd ever watch it again. But, kudos to Rogen for doing this project and stretching his acting muscles. He kinda keeps getting better as the years progress. Keep it up!

Final Word: Story kinda nosedives near the end. But, Rogen is pretty great. If you're curious, Give it a watch. But, don't expect much.

The two oddest shows on any streaming service right now would hands down be, The Umbrella Academy and Doom Patrol. Both of which had their second seasons drop in 2020. 

Doom Patrol shouldn't be this good. I don't know why it is so good. But, dammit! It is really, really, really good. This season we are introduced to Dorothy, who quickly becomes one of the standouts of the show. But, Crazy Jane (played brilliantly by Diane Guerrero) just completely comes into the multiple-characters she portrays, and she comes in hard. She is so absolutely outstanding in the season. She is definitely an actress to look out for. 

The only problem I had with this season was that it ended so abruptly, whether that was COVID related or not, I don't know. But, the finale was less of a finale and more of a tease leading up to something major. I guess we can call it a cliffhanger. But, it just didn't feel right to me. I wanted more. But, will sadly have to wait to see if it gets another season. 

Final Word: Much like the Doom Patrol themselves! This show is super underrated. On paper the show doesn't really stand out. In fact I think a lot of people are sleeping on this show. And, they shouldn't be! It is one of the best things out there right now. This cast is so amazingly talented, it is a bit upsetting more people aren't talking about it. It is batshit crazy, quirky as all get out, and super fun to tune into every week. So, check it out already!

The wait for season two was pretty brutal! But, oh so worth it...

We find the Hargreeves reeling after their attempt to stop the end of the world, sent them hurtling back to Dallas, Texas in the 60's. But, here is the kicker. They have landed at different points in time. Which causes all kinds of issues for Five, as he has witnessed the end of the world, again! And, must now locate his siblings and prevent the apocalypse, for a second time!

This season was leaps and bounds better than the first series. The showrunners amped up the craziness and the tunes. And, gave us a pretty fantastic, action packed, drama filled, drug fueled trip down the rabbit hole. 

I loved it! Tried not binging this this so quickly. But, alas! It was over just as quickly as it began. I hope the wait isn't as long for the next series. Because, I definitely need more of this show. 

Final Word: The already impressive cast shines bright as their characters are given more depth and time in the limelight. They really went all in for this season and it showed. If they can keep the series going at this level, than I fully expect this to just keep getting better and better. Fingers crossed.

Russell Crowe directs this drama about an Australian farmer, who travels to Turkey in search of his three sons who fell at the battle of Gallipoli. Whilst on his travels he befriends a local hotel-owner and her son, as well as a Turkish officer, that was present during the battle in which his sons were killed. 
The film features several solid performances from Yilmaz Erdogan, Olga Kurylenko, and Crowe himself. 
While there is a harrowing story and some great cinematography. The movie just kind of loses steam near its conclusion. And, ultimately is pretty forgettable. Which is a shame! Because, the first half of the film was really strong. 

Final Word: The final half of the film takes the breath out of an otherwise solid drama. And, solid acting from the main cast and some great cinematography, are just not enough to save the movie. Worth a look. But, ultimately pretty forgettable.

With a shortened final season and loads of questions to answer. 13 episodes just didn't really seem like enough. But, that thinking may have been influenced more by the fact that, I just didn't want to say goodbye to this show. But, sadly AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. ended this past week and while sad it ended. Was a little irked by the rushed finale. More of that in a bit!
So, the show struggled with ratings and was on the cancellation bubble nearly every season. But, this show had a lot of heart and a great cast. And, the fans latched on to the series and were never willing to let go. So, ABC thankfully let it go on for seven seasons. 
Now, one could argue! That had it ended with season five. It wouldn't' have been all that bad. But, these last two seasons introduced space travel and ultimately time travel in the final series. Which was super fun mostly because you could just tell the creators and cast were having a blast. 
This season especially as they stomped through time. Each decade presented a fun and unique opportunity to pay homage to different films (and genres) from the past. Most notable being the black and white, noir episode and the most surprising homage of all, Chopping Mall (which Mack had alluded in past seasons as being his favorite movie).
Overall, this final season was good. The most frustrating aspect being that Fitz, only appeared in the final two episodes. Even though they finally and mercifully gave Fitz and Simmons, the ending they deserved. 
It did feel rushed a bit. But, it is really my only gripe. And, as I said before. It is most likely influenced a bit by the fact, that I am just going to miss the hell out of this show. 
If you never got into it! I strongly recommend giving it a look. The show was special. Definitely a finale full of heart, and certainly made for the fans, who kept it going for so long. 
Final Word: Rushed ending. But, an overall satisfying end to a great series.
